Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Frank.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Attendance 12 members.   

 

The 50/50 drawing was held but no winner.

Frank started the business discussion:
Joann provided an update for the pending reorganization scheduled to take effect in October.  
Our District will go from 25 to 16 Divisions and our Club will go to Division 13 (still region 2).  Sister Clubs are Atlantic, Bellevue, Bellevue-Offutt, Clarinda, Council Bluffs Downtown, Glenwood, Hamburg, Omaha Golden K, Red Oak, Southwest Omaha, and West Omaha.  This is a complete merge of  Divisions 17 and 20.
 
Joann also provided an update of her recent activities which included a visit to Rockwell Elementary K-Kids.  This week she will visit Walnut Creek, the K-Kids for Omaha Golden K and Lewis and Clark, and  the Builders Club for Bellevue-Offutt.
 
Dale reported on Sacred Heart.  The upcoming scheduled meetings are March 21, March 28, and April 25.  Readers not yet determined.
   
Dale to have the upcoming Completely Kids schedule next week.
 
Jack provided an update on the Scholarship Program.  He has received several good responses from applicants.  Today is the final submission date as the due date was by March 3.  The reviewing committee includes Jack, Glen, Rich, and Dennis.  Due to a Jack knowing an applicant - Jack will have the applications ready for review by Wednesday but will not participate in the grading process which is scheduled for March 25.
 
Frank reminded the group of the two current surveys:
Club activities to Kip.
Golf Event.Steve stated he has received only eight responses.
 
Deb reminded everyone that she is still taking periodic donations.  She has gathered jeans which she will share with Joann for donation to the Sienna Francis House and the Stevens Center.
        
Glen reminded everyone to get their February Service Hours to him this week.
 
The Guest Speaker was Eric Stueckrath of Nebraska Outlook.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for March 10 at Legends.
