Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Joann.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Attendance 13 members.   There was one guest, AJ Campbell introduced by Tom.

 

The 50/50 drawing was held but no winner. 
 
Ralph collected Happy Bucks.
 
Deb donated $10 from recent aluminum cans sent to recycle.
 
Joann started the business discussion:
Joann discussed the pending reorganization scheduled to take effect in October.  The following is provided         by Joann:
To clarify recent District reorganization, we will go from 25 to 16 Divisions on October 1, 2025.   Our club will be in Division 13 (still Region 2).  Sister clubs are Bellevue, Bellevue-Offutt, Clarinda, Council Bluffs  Downtown, Glenwood, Hamburg, Omaha Golden K, Red Oak, Southwest Omaha, West Omaha.

Glen reported on Sacred Heart.  The last reading was February 21 and readers were Steve, Rich, and Glen.
   
Joann reported that the last Completely Kids was February 19.  Joann was the only team member taking part.
 
Jack provided an update on the Scholarship Program.  He is receiving good responses from applications with the due date as March 3.  The reviewing committee includes Jack, Glen, Rich, and Dennis.
 
Joann reminded the group of two surveys and to please respond to each:
Kip's Club activities.
Steve's Golf Event.
 
Jack provided an update on Bob and Kathy Lodes - both are still at rehabilitation centers.  Bob's paralysis is still severe and Kathy's rehabilitation has progressed to using a walker.
 
Deb reminded everyone that she is still taking periodic donations to the Stevens Center and anyone can drop items at the weekly meeting to add to her donations.
        
The Guest Speaker was Shelley McCafferty from Omaha City Planning to talk about the Omaha Historical  Department. 

 

The next meeting is scheduled for March 3 at Legends.
