Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Dave.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance 16 members.
 
The 50/50 drawing was held with no winner and Happy Bucks collected.
 
Kip started the business discussion:
Barb returned to the weekly meetings following rehabilitation from her early December knee surgery.
 
Jack provided an update on the stroke suffered by Bob Lodes.  He is still in intensive care at Bergen Mercy.  Paralysis is severe and doctors do not expect him to return home.  His wife, who broke her femur during the recent ice storm is still in rehabilitation.
  
Dale reported on Sacred Heart - the next reading is January 10th with the scheduled readers as Joann, Steve, and Glen.  The next reading is January 31.
 
Dale also reported that the next Completely Kids is January 21 with Dennis and Rich.
 
A Board Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow night, January 7 - 6:30, at the TD2 office.
 
Glen reminded everyone that he needs each person's service hours for his December report by the end of  the week.
 
The Guest Speakers from the Omaha Home for Boys was Carla Andreessen and Bailey Perry.
 
The next meeting is scheduled for January 13.
