Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

Kip started the business discussion:
Kip reported that Barb is scheduled for knee surgery on December 6.  She will likely miss most if not all of December.
 
The Clothing for Kids Program was successfully completed last Tuesday.  Kiwanis volunteers met with the six families with 17 kids at Walmart.  Clothes were selected and paid for with Kiwanis funds.  Volunteers included - Dave & Barb, Joann, Frank, Steve & Cheryl, Joel & Colleen, and Barb Irvin with her husband..
 
Sacred Heart report:
Reading was completed the past Friday November 22 - readers were included Joann, Joel, and Steve.
The next reading is December 6.  Readers are uncertain - may possibly include Dale and Joann.
 
Completely Kids was completed last Tuesday which included Rod and Dana.
 
Vince again passed out two sign-up sheets with open times and dates:
Members to schedule the monthly guest speakers for 2025.  
Salvation Army Bell Ringing in December.
 
The Guest Speaker was Jason Doll of Think Whole Person Healthcare.
 
The next meeting is scheduled for December 2, at 12 Noon, at Legends.

Barb discussed the Clothing for Kids program.  All is set for tomorrow night at Walmart - six families with 17 kids.  Volunteers include - Dave & Barb, Joann, Frank, Steve & Cheryl, Joel & Colleen, and Barb Irvin.
 
Dale reported on Sacred Heart:
Next reading this Friday November 22 - members included Kip, Rich, and Greg.
Possible December reading December 6 or 13.
 
Dale also reported on Completely Kids which has the next volunteer opportunity next Tuesday.  He asked for two or three volunteers.  Rod and Dana accepted and Ralph will check his schedule.

The Christmas lunch for the school class is December 9
 
Barb provided the following:
She and Dave delivered 34 frozen food meals to the Ronald McDonald House.  They were very grateful due to the flexibility this gives the program.  This was the first of three deliveries planned for this business year.
The date for the Clothes for Kids program is November 19th.  There are six families, with 17 kids, identified for the 19th.  There is also six volunteer teams scheduled to help:
Dave & Barb, Joann, Frank, Steve & Cheryl, Joel & Colleen, and Barb Irvin.

Kip started the business discussion:
We will have a meeting on Veteran's Day (next Monday).  This updates the notice in the October Board Meeting Minutes.
 
The next Division 20 Council Meeting is this coming Wednesday, November 6 at 7 AM at the First Watch on 72nd & Pacific.  We may have five members attend.
 
A sign up sheet was passed around for volunteers to help with the Clothing for Kids Program.  The date is November 19th, 5:45 PM, at the Walmart on 72nd just south of Pacific.
 
Joann, Rich, and Dale helped at Completely Kids last week.
 
Dale updated the Sacred Heart Reading Program.  The November dates are November 8th and 22nd.
Scheduled for November 8th are Greg, Rich, and Kip.
Scheduled for November 22nd are Steve, Joel, and one more volunteer is needed.
Dale also reported that he is still working the schedule for the Sacred Heart Christmas Lunch.
 
Glen reminded everyone to get their October service hours to him as soon as possible.
 
Jack stated he was preparing to send out scholarship notices very soon.  Kip confirmed that the Board had approved three, $2,000 scholarships. 
 
The Guest Speaker was Ellen Cooling of AARP.  She talked on Scam Prevention and passed out several useful sheets of information.
