Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Rod.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance 17.
 
The 50/50 drawing had no winner and Dennis collected Happy Bucks.
Rod reported that former member and WW II Veteran Bob Reisser had passed.   Rod also presented a slide show which showed many photos and records of Bob's early flying career in WW II.
 
Per Kip's earlier Club message:
    There will be a funeral service at Church of the Cross on 114th next Monday August 19 at 11AM, interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery at approximately 2 PM. 
 
Kip also reported that next week's meeting is cancelled to allow attendance for Bob's Funeral.
 
Kip stated that we had a Board Meeting last week.  Items discussed included:
    -    Approved two donations of $250 each to the Music Conservatory of Omaha and Omaha Girls Rock.
    -    Possible Millard North Key Club connection, Rod to investigate further.
    -    Barb plans to retire as Assistant Club Secretary, which will include issuing the weekly meeting minutes.  (I plan to take on issuing of the meeting minutes with this meeting until some one takes on this role)
    -    The Club Officers Installation Dinner is set for October 1 at the Champion's Country Club.
 
Dennis reported that the final two flag placements for Labor Day September 2 and September 11 are approaching.  He has sent a message asking for volunteers and there are still spots not filled.  Please contact Dennis if you can help.
 
Deb served at AllPlay this past weekend.  She stated that it was a well attended function.
