Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Kip.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Attendance 13 members.   

 

The 50/50 drawing was held but no winner. 
 
Vince collected Happy Bucks.
 
Kip started the business discussion:
Dale reported on Sacred Heart.  The upcoming scheduled readings are March 21, March 28, and April 25.  
March 21 readers - Rich, Greg, Glen
March 28 readers - Steve, Dale, Kip
April 25 (date is uncertain, Dale has contacted the school to verify) 
   
Dale also reported on Completely Kids with the next date of March 25 - Club members include Dale, Joann, and Dennis.
 
Jack provided an update on the Scholarship Program.  Overall response is good this year although two schools did not have responses.  But Jack has received at least 16 applicants.  Committee review scheduled for March 25. 
 
Glen asked everyone that when you send in your monthly service hours, please designate where you donate the individual hours.  This will help with future tracking.
 
Dennis reported that he has completed an inventory of the flags, which included a condition review, and there are just over 50 flags needing replaced.  He will proceed with ordering replacements and preparing the new flags.
 
The next Board Meeting is scheduled for March 18, 6:30 PM at the TD2 offices.
    
Vince passed around the sign-up sheet for members to help with scheduling guest speakers.   There are many months that are still open and need members to take on this effort. 
 
The Guest Speaker was Brian Wells, the NE-IA District Governor Elect.  He talked on the Kiwanis Children's Foundation, how to submit a request for grants, and Project Possibility.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for March 17 at Legends.
