Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Dale.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Attendance, 14 West Omaha members and three guests from the Southwest Kiwanis Club members:   -    Wendall Hockens, Stephanie Isenberger, Diane Wagner

 

The 50/50 drawing was held by Barb but there was no winner. 
 
Ralph collected Happy Bucks.
 
Kip started the business discussion:
Dale reported on Sacred Heart.  The latest reading was March 21 with the readers as Greg, Rich, and Glen.  The next reading date is March 28 with scheduled readers as Dale, Steve, and Glen as a tentative third reader.  The next date after the 28th is April 25 with the scheduled readers as Dave and Barb - a third reader not yet identified.
        
Per Greg's question, Dale will start coordinating the annual Zoo trip.  He will need to avoid April 29th which is a Teammates event.
 
Dale also reported on Completely Kids.  The next date is March 25 with the scheduled team members as Ralph, Rich, Dennis, and Dale.
 
Kip reported on the March 18 Board Meeting.  Board discussion included:
   -    The activity survey, which Kip stated that he will discuss in more detail at the April 21 meeting.
   -    Project Possibility, which our Club would need to donate $14,000 over the next five years to meet as  an Impact Club - the Board will discuss in more detail at the next Board Meeting in April.
  -    We are moving forward with the Golf Event.
 
Steve reported that pending confirmation with the Golf Course and Golf USA people, he expects to get the Flier finalized and distributed this week.
 
Deb reminded everyone that she is always collecting donation items for homeless shelters.  Each of us can bring clothing items, canned goods, etc.  She is periodically taking collected items to the shelters.
 
Barb reported that she getting ready to buy frozen food for donating to the Ronald McDonald House.  This is the second of three donations planned for this business year.  The third event would have the Club actually preparing a meal at the House.
 
The Guest Speaker was Jeremy Bouman from RISE. 

 

The next meeting is scheduled for March 31 at Legends.
