Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

Frank led the business discussion:
The Salvation Army Night Watch is scheduled for tonight, February 9.  Frank and Jerry are scheduled.
Dale reported on Sacred Heart - the next reading is scheduled for February 13 with Joann, Glen, Kip, and Dale.   
Dale also reported that the next date for Completely Kids is February 25 with Deb, Rich, Dale, and
Dennis.
Joann reported the following:
The next Division Council meeting was last Tuesday, February 3.  Meeting minutes previously
distributed.   
Joann reminded everyone that the International President Michael Mulhaul will be in the area on March 13 for 
a Kiwanis celebration.  Information sheet (crudely) attached.
Frank will schedule a Board Meeting for an upcoming Monday evening - February 16 or 23.
 
Ralph was the speaker - he talked on Estate Planning.
 
The next Club Meeting is February 16, at Legends.  The scheduled speaker is from Radio Talking Head.

Frank led the business discussion:
The next Salvation Night Watch is scheduled for February 9.  Frank is scheduled as one volunteer
and a second volunteer is needed.  Please contact Frank if you can help.
Glen asked that he needs everyone to provide him with their service hours for January.  Send 
your info as soon as possible.
Dale reported on Sacred Heart:
The January 26 reading with Joann, Dale, and Glen was successful.
The next reading is scheduled for February 13 with Joann, Glen, Kip, and Dale.   
Dale also reported that the next date for Completely Kids is February 25 with Deb, Rich, Dale, and
Dennis.
Jack reported that he has already received three Scholarship Applications.  The application period
runs through March 3.
Deb brought in new purchased items for homeless shelters.  Joann to help with delivery.
Greg reported there we had a successful Inter-Club last Tuesday at the Golden K Club.  Also attending
the Golden K meeting was Joel and Dale.
Dennis reported that on March 7 his kids are having a 40th Anniversary party for Dennis and his wife.
The location is at Nosh, a restaurant/Wine Bar located at 1006 Dodge St.  Everyone is invited and
Dennis will send a separate information email later.   
Joann reported that the following:
The next Division Council meeting is February 3.  You can attend at Joann's home or connect via zoom.  
Start time is 6:30 or come to Joann's home as early as 5:30 for sandwiches.  Please let Joann know if
you can attend.
Joann also reported that the International President Michael Mulhal will be in the area on March 13.  A 
reception and dinner is planned for that evening.  Agenda will include presentation of Club Awards.
More information from Lisa Brichacek will get sent later this week.
There is an opportunity for an Inter-Club this coming Friday at the Legends on 70th & Pacific.  The topic
is Prevention of Human Trafficking.  The start time is 12:10 PM with a lunch, $20, to follow at 12:20.

Frank is still out sick.  Steve has talked to Frank and learned the following -
Frank had his Pulmonary Specialist appointment has received a good prognosis.  Frank expects to
           
Based on a question from Dennis concerning cancelling of meetings due to bad/cold weather - Frank
confirmed that in the event of school closings due to weather then the Kiwanis meetings would also
get cancelled.

Dale reported on Sacred Heart :
Last Friday's reading was cancelled due to cold weather.
The next scheduled reading at Sacred Heart is for February 13.  The scheduled readers are Kip, Dale,
Joann, and Glen.
Dale reported on Completely Kids - January 29 with Club Volunteers - Rich, Dennis, and Kip.  The February 
date is the 25th with Club Volunteers - Deb, Rich, and Dale.  Both dates start at 9 AM.
Greg reported that the next  Inter-Club possibility is at the Tri-Faith Center Tuesday morning at the Circle K meeting.  
Glen, Dale, and Greg may attend.  
The next Night Watch is still scheduled for February 9th.  Two volunteers are needed.  If you area able to help
contact Frank, or Steve, next Monday.

Pulmonary Specialist on January 27.

Watch is scheduled for February 9.  Two volunteers are needed.  Contact Steve.

Deb donated $8 from her last aluminum cans donation.  She reminded everyone to please bring
in any aluminum cans you can collect during the week.

Society.  He presented a history on the Omaha Development.
