Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Stu.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance - 18 members.  
 
The 50/50 drawing was held and there was no winner.
 
Happy Bucks was collected.
 
Kip led the meeting today due to Frank being out sick.  Kip was unable to report many details - cancer,
is Frank still in the hospital, or more.  As more information is available it will get reported.
 
Kip led the business discussion: 
Frank did leave a reminder message that the next Salvation Army Night Watch Program is January 12.
Dale and Glen are scheduled.
Barb passed out a thank you card she received from Completely Kids for the Christmas Gifts provided 
to four of the kids.
Dale reported that he left messages with Sacred Heart and Completely Kids representatives - schedules
are not yet known.
Vince reported that he still scheduling monthly volunteers for guest speakers.  Vince to email schedule as
it is completed.
Jack reported on the Scholarship Program.  The Program approved for $6,000, notices sent to six high 
schools, applications due by March 5, committee to complete grading by March 25, and awarded
at the April 13 Club meeting.
      
This week's scheduled speaker cancelled due to illness but Joann filled in and discussed/showed videos 
from Botswana and Galapagos Islands.  
 
The next Club Meeting is January 12, at Legends.  The scheduled speakers are architects from Holland-Basham
to discuss the Crossroads development.

Frank reported that the next Salvation Army Night Watch Program is January 12.
Vince reported that the December 16 Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Cabela's was a  success.
The Completely Kids activity, also on December 16, was completed with Rich, Kip, Joann, and Dale.
Kip provided the Guest Speaker schedule for January, reference our website for details.
Vince reported that he still needing volunteers to schedule guest speakers for March and August. 
      
This week's speaker was Damian Howard, Investment Officer at Security National Bank, who spoke on
the economy.
 
The next Club Meeting is January 5, at Legends.  The scheduled speaker is Gary Sadlemyer from KFAB.
