Corey Pomykata, Executive Director, Coalition Rx, https://www.coalitionrx.org/   She will be joined by Officer Fornoff, Omaha Police Department. “Founded in 2015, our mission is to reduce the misuse of all substances of abuse by raising awareness and partnering with community organizations to provide public and professional education, prevention and treatment resources, and policy advocacy.”

Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer led by Kip.This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

No winner for 50/50 Drawing. 

Ralph collected Happy Bucks.

Kip gave a report on the Board Meeting last week. $250.00 was donated to The Big Garden Project and $250.00 was donated to the Diaper Project. The Board voted to donate $1000.00 to Key Club Sponsorship.

The slate of officers has been set for next year. President is Kip, President Elect is Frank, Treasurer is Steve, Secretary is Glen, 1 year Board Members are Rod and Greg. 2 year Board Members are Rich and Tom.

Tentative dates were mentioned for the installation dinner. Jack will will check to see of either of the dates are available at the Country Club.

The playground project is still being considered. Jack is checking with the school principal to see how the project is progressing.

Millard North Key Club needs Kiwanis sponsors. They have a school sponsor. Rod and Glenn volunteered to pursue this opportunity.

Deb brought in 2 storage totes and a wooden shelf unit for Joann to take to Sienna Francis House. Barb brought in some food items.  Remember you can bring in food, clothing and household items to any meeting.  Joann and Deb will get the items delivered to one of the following: Sienna Francis House, Stephens Center or Open Door Mission.  

Rod mentioned All Play has completed the spring season. The fall season is August 10th to September 15. They will need volunteers. Go to Allplay.org to sign up to volunteer.

A big Thank You to Deb for cashing in aluminum cans that club members have collected . She turned in $11.00 to our club.  Remember to bring in your aluminum cans to any meeting.

Rod introduced our speaker Edward A. Morse, Father Flanagan League Society of Devotion Board Member Appointed by Archbishop George Lucas. 

He is a professor of law at Creighton University School of Law where he holds the McGrath North Mullin & Kratz Endowed Chair in Business Law. The Father Flanagan League Society of Devotions Mission : To educate and inform all people of the heroic virtand sanctity of Father Flanagan's life and his mission as mentor and protector of youth, and spread devotion of his example throughout the world. A documentary telling the story of Father Flanagan will be released to theatres October 8th. It is called A Servants Heart. It was a very informative presentation.  For more info you can go to www.fatherflanagan.org (league website.
