Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Frank. Then followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 
 
Attendance - 15 members.  One guest - Laurrie Cronin.
 
The 50/50  drawing was held and there was no winner.
 
Happy Bucks collected by Rod.
 
Frank led the business meeting.
Flag Program - the last placement date is Labor Day, September 7th.  Meet at the Church at 84th & Pacific at 
7 AM for flag placement.  Pick up is at 6 PM.  Let Dennis know if you can help with placement or pickup. 
 
Installation Dinner is September 22nd at Champions Country Club.  All, including spouses, are welcome to attend.
Members and spouses who attend will pay for the entree - 
filet, $40
 salmon, $28
chicken, $36
Pay-as-you-go bar
Club pays all other costs - room, desert, tea, etc
If you intend to attend please let Dennis or Steve know by September 17, pay (to Kiwanis) Dennis or Steve
up to the Dinner event.
 
Barb reported that the final phase of frozen meals deliveries for the Ronald McDonald House is complete.
  
Kiwanis International "Calming Room" Grant status:  Barb passed around information on items purchased with
Grant funding $250.  These for use with calming activities. 
         
Barb also reported that she preparing to start work on the Clothes for Kids program
 
A Board Meeting was held last Monday, August 24:
Future meetings planned for Tuesdays at 6 PM, dates not yet determined.
One position, President Elect, not yet identified.
Two donations approved (within Club budget):
The Beautiful Gate (Solomon's Porch), $1000
The Duet Foundation, $400
 
Glen reminded all that August service hours need sent to him as soon as possible.
     
The guest speaker was Steve Kaplan with Today's Curiosity.
 
No meeting on Labor Day, September 7.  Next Meeting is September 14 at the Legends on 70th & Pacific.
