Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha
 
Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Glen.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Attendance - 14 members.  
 
The 50/50 drawing was held and there was no winner.
 
Happy Bucks was collected.
 
Frank is still out sick and Steve has talked to Frank and learned the following -
Frank is still very weak with little energy which has resulted in his using a wheel chair.  He is now
on new medicine.  He has a function test scheduled for January 15 and will see a Pulmonary 
Specialist on January 27.
 
Steve led the business discussion:
Dale reported that he does not yet have a schedule for Sacred Heart.
Dale was able to report a schedule for Completely Kids - January 29 with Club Volunteers - Rich, Dennis,
and Kip.  The February date is the 25th.  Both dates start at 9 AM.
Greg reported that there are seven area Clubs with Inter-Club possibilities.  He will have a list next week.
Glen reminded everyone to send their December service to him as soon as possible for the monthly
report.
Deb brought in toothpaste and soup for donating to homeless shelters.  Everyone is encouraged to also
help with bringing in their donations for Deb.
Deb also reported she has received an email asking for Club help with cleanup of parks around the City.
Will followup to obtain more information.
 
Kip introduce the guest speakers - Brittany and Greta - from Holland Basham Architects.  They with presented
a discussion on the Crossroads Project. 
 
The next Club Meeting is January 19, at Legends.  The scheduled speaker is Tom Neal with the Douglas County 
Historical Society.
