Welcome to the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha

Founded in 1938 for Kiwanis Club of Greater Omaha and founded in 1961 for Kiwanis Club Westside which have merged together to form the Kiwanis Club of West Omaha. Each has a rich history of community service throughout the years. We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. Members and invited guests meet each Monday at Noon for food, fellowship, and for the opportunity to hear from speakers about important matters in our region.

The meeting was opened with a prayer from Ralph.  This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Attendance - 15 members.

The 50/50 drawing was held but there was no winner.

Dennis collected happy bucks.

Kip led the business discussion:
The next Flag placement is this coming Saturday, Flag Day.  Dennis is still looking for volunteers for both placement and pickup.
Dennis and Frank have received more participant donations and amounts have now exceeded $7,000.
June 4 was the Division 20 Council meeting.  We had two members - Kip and Glen, who attended.
Kip read the list of nominated Board Members.  No further nominations.  Glen to submit names to the Corporate Office.
           President - Frank
           President Elect - no nomination
           Secretary - Glen
           Treasurer - Steve
           One-Year - Tom and Rich
           Two-Year - Rod and Dennis
The Golf Event was held this past Saturday.  The weather was perfect, we had an increase in teams and sponsors over last year,
and had a hole-in-one.  Those who found sponsors, donated raffle prizes (which were many), and helped with their time
contributed to a successful event.  It appears we may net around $4,000.
Vince has stated that he may host a Club Social later this summer or fall.  More to follow.
Glen reminded everyone to get their service hours in early each month.  He needs to report these to Corporate Office also early
each month.
Jack Jackson to contact Champions Run about a date for the next Installation Dinner.  Possible date of September 30.

The guest speaker has a last minute cancellation so Rod gave a talk on Club Membership:
Passes out business cards and information cards that he recently had made at a print shop.
Encouraged all to use these cards whenever a you are in a promising situation.
A suggestion was discussed to set a yearly goal - maybe 3 or more new members.
Rod to start assembling a membership committee.  If interested, please contact Rod.
The next meeting is June 16, with Becca Brune with Nebraska Appleseed as the guest speaker, at Legends.
